Rotary is Different Things to Different People:

  • To a ten year old boy it is his Little League Baseball team.
  • To community members and visitors it is a social gathering during East Jordan’s Sno Blast for the annual Chili Supper.
  • To a high school student it is the opportunity to become a foreign exchange student for a year and discover another culture.
  • To a ten year old boy it is his Little League Baseball team.
  • To graduating high school seniors, it’s the scholarship that helps them attend the college or university of their choice.
  • To a family in Central America it is the organization that provided them with a sand water filter that for the first time in their lives gave them potable water.
  • To Charlevoix/Emmet county students in a physically and mentally impaired program, it is the annual Christmas luncheon where the same jolly Santa knows them by name and brings them each a special gift chosen just for them.
  • To a local Boy Scout it is the opportunity to grow in body and mind with a positive set of core values.
  • To the millions of children worldwide it is knowing that they will never have to run the risk of contracting polio because they received a vaccine.
  • To a two mile stretch on M-66 it is knowing that twice a year a group will show up to clean-up the roadside.
  • To a local school it is a support system for their programs by providing opportunities that young people might not otherwise be afforded.
  • To a child in the Philippines living at the Lingap Center, it is a clean, safe home and an opportunity to attend school.
  •
  • To the organizations who present programs at our weekly meetings it is an opportunity to get their message out to a group of committed community citizens who are interested in learning about their mission, goals and objectives.
  • To the thousands of campers who stayed in a cabin at Camp Daggett it is a set of memories they will treasure forever.
  • To a dad and a son, it is an opportunity, once a year, to spend an evening together, with other dads and sons, at the annual Rotary Father-Son Banquet.
  • To our members, it is an opportunity to work and serve together, in support of the common good
