The 103rd Annual Father and Son Banquet was held at the East Jordan High School Auditorium, continuing a cherished community tradition that has brought families together for over a century.

First established in 1923 and proudly adopted by the Rotary Club of East Jordan in 1957, the banquet remains a meaningful celebration of the vital role fathers and father figures play in building strong families and a vibrant community. Once again, the event gathered generations of East Jordan families for an evening of connection, appreciation, and shared memories.

This year’s program featured an engaging presentation from the founder of Raven Hill, Cheri Leach, along with an evening of fun, food, and entertainment that reflected the spirit of the East Jordan community.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Greg Kitson as the 2026 Father of the Year. Greg was nominated by his son, Granger, with the enthusiastic support of his daughter, Molly, and his wife, Meg. Selected from a strong group of deserving nominees, Greg’s recognition reflected his lasting impact as both a father and a community leader. East Jordan Public Schools Superintendent Enos Bacon presented Greg with his Father of the Year award during the ceremony.

Recently retired from a long career at EJ, Greg remains a familiar and respected presence in East Jordan. He continues to dedicate his time and energy to local youth as a coach for the East Jordan Red Devils football and basketball teams, serving as a mentor and role model to many.

“The Father and Son Banquet is a celebration of the relationships that shape our lives and strengthen our community,” said Jennifer Burr, Club President. “We are proud to honor individuals like Greg Kitson who embody the values of leadership, service, and family.”

The Rotary Club of East Jordan thanked all who attended and helped continue this longstanding tradition, celebrating the fathers and father figures who make a difference every day. To find out more about the Club, visit their website at www.EJRotary.com.
