The Rotary Club of East Jordan recently  awarded $136,900 in postsecondary education scholarships to seven outstanding  graduates of East Jordan High School. Supporting the youth of East Jordan has been a  cornerstone of the club’s mission for decades, and this year’s awards represent one of  the largest scholarship totals in the club’s history.

“These students have shown not only academic excellence, but also leadership,  service, and determination,” said Jennifer Burr, president of the Rotary Club of East  Jordan. “We are proud to play a part in helping them achieve their higher education  goals and build bright futures.” The club currently holds three separate scholarship  funds, which are administered through the Charlevoix County Community Foundation:  The East Jordan Rotary Club Academic & Leadership Scholarship Fund, The East  Jordan Rotary Opportunity Scholarship Fund and The East Jordan Rotary Vocational  Education Scholarship Fund.

The seven recipients — Arlo Knauf, Brielle Sutton, Emma Speer, Gabrielle Hamilton,  Lillian Curtis, Rachael Hanson, and Ryder Malpass — will be pursuing studies at  colleges, universities, and technical schools across the state and beyond. Funding for  these scholarships is made possible through the generosity of the Club’s membership,  the East Jordan community, local business support, and proceeds from the club’s  annual fundraisers.
